This position serves our partners at the Department of Corrections (DOC). The MNIT DOC team runs many unique applications that manage the information and security of the department, supporting 4,500 employees across 10 prisons and 50 field offices located throughout the state.

The purpose of this position is to function as a developer in an area of a modern data repository and/or Data Warehousing/Business Intelligence. This position will be responsible for analysis, design, development, and implementation of the staging and multi-dimensional warehouse, including support and maintenance of a data repository, applications, and business intelligence modules.

*This position is temporary and includes full state fringe benefits; it is anticipated to last for up to three (3) years.

This position is currently eligible for full-time telework:

  • Telework for Minnesota IT Services allows an employee to perform work from a telework location and an employee may be required to be in the office based on business needs and other dependencies in St. Paul, Minnesota.

  • Only candidates located in Minnesota and bordering states (Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin) are telework eligible.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must clearly demonstrate all of the following qualifications in their resume:

Position requires a minimum of three (3) years of IT related experience in IT Analytics Development.

Experience must include:

  • Proficiency and experience with SQL, relational databases and data warehousing concepts.

  • Experience translating business requirements into meaningful reports & dashboards using Business Intelligence (BI) tools.

  • Experience with cloud-based data & analytics and ETL services.

  • Excellent prioritization and time management skills.

  • Ability to deliver effective verbal or written messages that facilitate a mutual understanding on both parties.

  • Customer service skills that include active listening, empathy, and problem-solving.

A master’s degree in Information Technology or an IT related field substitutes for three (3) years of experience, OR an IT related bachelor’s degree substitutes for two (2) years, OR an IT related associate’s degree substitutes for one (1) year.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Expertise in writing and performance-tuning SQL queries and procedures.

  • Experience with Microsoft Azure and Power BI.

  • Experience with git-based version control.

  • Experience planning and organizing projects and managing project teams.
